(1) Role play: Catching a ride

Students play the roles of the old woman (B), Sompo (A), and the truck driver (C), following the dialogues in Lesson 9.

Characters: A — Sompo B — Old woman C — Truck driver

(2) Role play: Airport pickup

Two students (B, C) carry heavy luggage and walk out of Lanyu Airport. A staff member of the Lan-En Cultural and Educational Foundation meets them, helps them load/unload the luggage, and drives them to their destination. Students practice expressing gratitude politely.

Practice expressions:
ayoy kong! — Thank you!
ji kamo makasnek — I feel embarrassed (thankful)!
makapia ka — Please sit well / be comfortable

(3) Role play: Asking for a ride during fieldwork

Two students conducting fieldwork in Lanyu finish interviews in Iraralay (Langdao) and want to return to the Lan-En Cultural and Educational Foundation. They meet a local resident who is driving to Yayu (Yeyou) and practice asking politely for a ride.

Useful expressions:

(1) Thank-you card to the airport pickup co-worker

Assist the two students in writing a thank-you card to the staff member of the Lan-En Cultural and Educational Foundation who helped with airport pickup.
