their gold plates and agate necklaces (heirloom) in advance, because they did
not want their relatives who had never supported them to inherit these
treasures.

Even though they went to find him, they
had no evidence to prove who killed their brother. Usually, they (the killers) would
tail the victim to the mountain and then take the opportunity to kill him.
